IU Health Arnett Hospital is looking for a supplemental (PRN) Pharmacy Admission Medication History Specialist to join their team!

This position is responsible for assisting with reconciling patients' medication regimens during the admission, transfer or discharge processes. Medication reconciliation is defined as acquiring a complete and accurate medication history with the involvement of the patient and/or family; comparison of a patient's home medications to the medications ordered on admission and identification of discrepancies, followed by a clarification of any noted discrepancies. The Incumbent acts under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals in the responsibility for patient drug therapy outcomes.

Most of the hours are needed on the weekends, but can vary, and this is a position needed year round.

Qualifications for the Pharmacy Medication History Technician Role

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Requires Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Requires Pharmacy Technician National Certification within one year of hire unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.
  • Requires strong mathematical calculation skills.
  • Requires ability to learn basic pharmacy technician skills in assigned areas and work under close supervision or under clearly defined procedures.
  • Requires ability to learn effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires ability to learn and execute customer service skills.
  • Requires basic proficiency typing and using Microsoft Office applications.
