The Surgical Technologist team at IU Health is part of Indiana's largest healthcare system, serving in roles at our surgical centers and hospitals. There are many unique growth opportunities within the surgical team, including the chance to cross-train and specialize or remain generalized. The team uses scientific processes and critical thinking to deliver the best care possible to patients.

Our team uses leading-edge technology and research to provide highly-skilled care. Certified Surgical Technologists provide service and support to patients before, during and after surgical procedures. They work with surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses to deliver patient care by properly routing surgical instruments, supplies and equipment. Located at our Downtown-Indianapolis AAHC. #MK-CST

Qualifications for the Surgical Skilled Technologist Role

  • Requires a High School Diploma/GED.
  • A graduate or upcoming Graduate from a Certified Surgical Technologist Program.
  • Upcoming graduates welcome to apply.
  • Requires certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA within four months of employment.
  • Requires Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Requires the ability to resource advanced technology.
  • Requires 15 continuing education units annually as required by state law.
  • Requires knowledge of various surgical procedures in order to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and to recognize the problems encountered by the surgeon within 12 months of employment.
  • Requires knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Requires strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field.
