We are looking for a Speech Pathology Rehab Supervisor to join our team! This position is 50% patient care and 50% a management role.

Manages front line operations-therapist schedules, patient schedules & triage of patients, assist with hiring and orientation of new team members, as well as program and team member development. This position works collaboratively with the rehabilitation services management team and other areas within 3 acute care hospitals (Methodist, University & Saxony) to improve quality, efficiency, time management, and skill development of the team, as well as the program itself. This position has some responsibilities for outpatient speech services. Knowledge of outpatient processes, coding, procedures and insurance nuances helpful. Ability to evaluate and treat a wide variety of patient diagnosis-including swallowing, speech, language and voice difficulties.

Assists Rehabilitation leadership in planning, directing, and overall operations of Rehabilitation Services. Oversees the efficient use of personnel, equipment and supplies in accordance with budgetary requirements. Maintains continuity of care through appropriate distribution of personnel resources, participation in performance assessment and improvement. Acts as a resource to the department and other healthcare practitioners. Performs tasks and duties of the therapist as needed.

Qualifications for the Rehabilitation Services Supervisor Role

  • Base knowledge of state and federal regulations is preferred.
  • Requires graduation from an accredited academic program in area of specialization, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology or audiology. Requires current State of Indiana license in area of specialization, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology or audiology.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • May require current certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • May require a certificate of clinical competence awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASLHA) or eligibility for this certificate.
  • May require a certificate of clinical competence in Audiology or eligibility for this certificate.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is preferred. Some leadership experience is preferred.

  • This is a full time, day shift position. There is some weekend involvement.
  • Acute care experience preferred.
  • Specialty or advanced training in Swallowing, Communication and/ or Voice disorders. Ability to perform instrumental assessments is a must.
