IU Methodist's B5 is a 5-bed End of Life Care unit within C5 that is dedicated to the care of patients at the end of life, including both palliative and hospice care. C5 is a 26-bed medical patient care unit that provides 24-hour care to acutely ill patients. The patient population ranges from the young adult to geriatric age group. The most common conditions treated include renal disease, diabetes management, wound management, pain management, and vascular access issues. C5 is the designated unit for providing all Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) for Methodist Hospital.

Qualifications for the Palliative Care Registered Nurse Role

  • Requires an Associate's of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Previous Palliative, End of Life, and/or Hospice Care experienced preferred
