This position exists to perform a variety of patient care services as directed by physicians or clinic manager. As a float, this position has no definitive work location; the work location will be determined based on need. Work schedule and location will be communicated by the supervisor or Practice Administrator. Work assignment notice can vary from weeks in advance to the morning of the assignment. This position requires flexible work hours to accommodate the needs of the various work locations. Expected to be cross trained to all desks/offices. Assures smooth patient flow, assists with examination procedures, collects patient information, performs general lab work, and provides patient education and clerical support.
This position will work with high-risk, infectious disease patients, inclusive of the COVID population.

Qualifications for the Outpatient Float RN Role

  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nursing program accredited through the ACEN or CCNE.
  • Requires knowledge of various standard laboratory and medical procedures.
  • Requires the ability to accurately collect patient information.
  • Requires knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
  • Requires data entry and basic math skills.
  • Requires the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Requires familiarity and operating knowledge of designated equipment and supplies.
  • Requires the ability to work effectively with culturally diverse or low- income populations.
  • Requires the ability to provide patient education pertaining to a diagnosed illness; preparation for tests; patient care and diet; or related subject based on pre-established content.
  • Requires the ability to work independently and assist with medical procedures.
  • Requires excellent customer service skills.
  • Current active Indiana state RN license required.
  • Must be competent with IV therapy with previous ER, ICU, Infusion Center experience preferred.
