Summary Conducts targeted infection surveillance activities including investigation and responses to outbreaks of infections among patients and/or personnel. Recommends and teaches appropriate preventative measures to control infection. Assures compliance with recommendations from regulatory and accrediting agencies. Qualifications for the Infection Preventionist Role

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical procedures; medical and environmental microbiology; infectious disease; epidemiology; asepsis and immunology preferred.
  • Requires knowledge of local; state; and national regulations and standards and their impact on infection control.
  • National certification in infection control preferred within 3 years from date of hire.
  • 3-5 years of experience required.
  • Prior experience in infection control preferred.
