Supports patient diagnosing and treatment by installing, testing, calibrating, and repairing complex biomedical equipment, training users, and maintaining safe operations on specialty equipment, under minimal supervision. Validates and inspects clinical equipment for completeness, mechanical and electrical safety, and proper operation. Performs planned maintenance inspections, calibrations, and repairs of general biomedical equipment. Helps other technicians in the troubleshooting and major repair of complex equipment. Serves as technical advisor to the medical and clinical staff in the safe operation and use of clinical equipment. Assists in developing specifications for the selection of new clinical equipment. Ensures outside contractors are informed of Hospital procedures, including working conditions and safety, and conform to project specifications. Assists with installation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems and life safety systems.

Qualifications for the Biomed Equipment II Engineer Role

  • Associate's degree preferred or equivalent years of relevant experience.
  • May require valid Driver's License.
  • Biomedical Equipment Technician certification (CBET) preferred.
  • Requires 3-5 years of progressive experience with biomedical equipment and preventative maintenance and repair in a healthcare environment.
  • Requires basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
