Functions of this position:  Assist the four doctors in the Dermatopathology section in every aspect of making accurate and timely patient diagnoses on skin biopsies and communicating diagnoses to dermatologists and other clinicians. This involves: accessioning biopsies into the computer system, troubleshooting problem cases, identifying high priority cases, organizing the doctors workflow, organizing slides, communicating with nurses, doctors, other labs and on occasion patients. Typing reports, ordering additional lab tests including molecular tests when necessary.  Working as part of a larger lab team. Assisting with academic functions of  the Dermatopathology section and adapting to the evolving needs of the service. Full training will be given.  Medical transcription training or experience preferred.  Ability to type 30+ words per minute and lab experienced preferred.

Qualifications for the Administrative Assistant Role

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Requires 0-3+ years relevant experience; previous administrative experience preferred.
  • Experience with matrix organization and complex work environment a plus.
  • Requires basic proficiency in MS office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
