This position plans, develops and supervises the Patient Access Center and/or Physician Referral Services within the office of Access and Referral Management, which represents IU Health Physicians consolidated central service center. The Patient Access Center and Physician Referral Services serves as a comprehensive contact center that promotes exceptional quality and customer service to internal and external customers. The supervisor provides direction and leadership to all team members in the department and is responsible to ensure all appropriate job functions are performed accurately and efficiently. The supervisor is responsible to work with the manager to successfully integrate scheduling, registration, referral, pre-certification and insurance verification functions into the Patient Access Center and Physician Referral Services. The supervisor is also responsible for working with Patient Access Center training team to develop and implement effective training programs for the department.

Qualifications for the Access & Referral Mgmt Superv Role

  • Requires High School diploma or equivalent. Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Requires 3 years supervision and personnel management experience.
  • Requires training experience.
  • Requires experience in organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments.
  • Requires ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Requires ability to apply personnel policies and procedures.
  • Central Call/Service Center Operations Supervision preferred.
  • Proven experience fostering a cooperative work environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of personnel training techniques preferred.
  • Requires ability to develop and implement new strategies and procedures.
  • Requires outstanding organizational skills.
  • Requires outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Requires ability to communicate sensitive issues with team members.
  • Requires preeminent customer service skills.
  • Prefer a high level of problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Prefer process design and process improvement experience.
  • Prefer data analysis and statistical interpretation experience.
  • Knowledge of medical insurance, pre-authorization, registration, scheduling preferred.
