Performs ultrasound procedures to include vascular assessments for radiological diagnosis, in a timely fashion, while demonstrating the appropriate knowledge and skills necessary to work with patients from pediatric through geriatric. Follows physician's instructions, prepares and operates equipment and positions patients correctly in order to record the requested diagnostic images. Treats patients with care and respect.
This position will be an evening role at IU North general ultrasound and vascular. We request the candidate have their RVT credential for this position, and also be comfortable scanning in general ultrasound. The hours will be 3 pm -11:30 pm. There will be a minimum one weekend a month on-call and one holiday a year. There is a potential for more call if desired (weekday and weekend). Pediatric experience is preferred, but the department is willing to train. The first few hours of this shift will be in vascular, finishing up their outpatient schedule, then the technologist will transition over to general to cover ED and inpatient for both general and vascular.

Qualifications for the Ultrasound/Vascular Technologist Role

  • Basic Life Support certification required.
  • May be required to be registered by the American Registry of Radiology Technology (ARRT).
  • Requires active status as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
  • License from Indiana State Department of Health if applicable.
  • Minimum three years radiology experience, with at least one year of experience in diagnostic ultrasound, preferred.
