Develop and coordinate staff education programs and departmental quality improvement programs. Provide education and training instruction to the department. Coordinate departmental quality projects and audits with the team input. Maintain and support the electronic instrument tracking system. Develop and maintain department guidelines, policies and procedures. Monitor effectiveness of efforts and prepare and present quarterly reports. Attend hospital meetings and shares information with staff and management team. Serve as a consultant representing scope of expertise for all regulatory aspects of Sterile Processing. Participate in regulatory compliance and direct liaison with Infection prevention and Quality to meet organizational goals.

Qualifications for the Sterile Proc Quality Coordinator Role

  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with quality assurance and process improvement initiatives preferred.
  • Requires completion of the Sterile Processing preceptor training program within 6 months of hire.
  • Requires experience in training and presentation techniques.
  • Requires Associates degree in Health-related area (Surgical Technologist, Medical Assisting, Healthcare Administration, etc.).
  • Requires national Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification.
  • Requires national Certified Instrument Specialist certification.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification.
  • Requires one-year experience in Sterile Processing or two-years’ experience preferred.
