The position exists to manage clinical outcomes, cost, and customer satisfaction in the daily care assignment and in the operations of the unit. The incumbent assures care for patients and families reflective of the organization's core values. This position coordinates the nursing and interdisciplinary team for daily patient care assignments. If cross trained as Hyperbaric Technologist, responsibilities include supervision and care to various Wound Center patients including but not limited to Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy patients and those patients undergoing Transcutaneous Oxygen Monitoring evaluation. Performs a wide variety of patient care duties as directed by the Clinical Providers of the Wound Center. Works closely with patients, patient family members, other Wound Center staff members, physicians and other departmental staff members.

Qualifications for the Wound Care Registered Nurse Role

  • Minimum of an Associate?s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program through Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) required. Newly hired ASN Registered Nurses will be required to show proof to the Hospital of acceptance to, enrollment in and actively taking classes for an accredited Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) program within 18 months of their employment date. This timeline does not include any pre-requisites. Once enrolled in an accredited program, the Employee agrees to show proof of continued enrollment and acceptable performance in the program at the end of each semester. The Employee must be awarded the BSN degree within five (5) years of their date of employment. If the Employee is pursuing an ASN to MSN degree program, he/she will have seven (7) years from their date of employment to be awarded the degree.   • In employment, if job duties include performing moderate complexity testing procedures, must demonstrate proficiency in performing moderate complexity testing skills related to specimen processing, test performance, and test result reporting according to CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvements Amendments) through training and clinical competency assessments.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification required. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. If cross-trained as Hyperbaric Technologist, Certified Hyperbaric Technologist certification preferred.
  • Requires current license as Registered Nurse.
  • Wound Care Certification preferred
