The Behavioral Health unit at IU Health Bloomington Hospital is a 26-bed unit that provides mental health care for patients over the age of 18 in an acute or crisis situation.

We utilize evidenced based practices to provide individualized and holistic care from an interdisciplinary team comprised of board-certified psychiatrists, social workers, recreational therapists in collaboration with a caring, compassionate team of nurses and patient care technicians.

As a team that focuses on the IU Health Values, nurses on our team will enjoy working in close collaboration with others. You will spend time getting to know our patients, have compassion for and be willing to grow/learn/develop the intricacies of supporting this unique population.

Opening in the fall of 2021, Our IU Health Regional Academic Health Facility will be a state-of-the-art facility and will bring together multiple medical specialties and outpatient services into one convenient setting! It will also provide a unique and innovative environment in which IU and IU Health can partner to teach future generations of nurses. The new facility and model of care that will be implemented in it will allow nurses to practice at the top of their profession. That's good for the patient and good for our caregivers!
