Short Stay/Observation Unit

This role functions on our Short Stay/Medical Observation unit at Bloomington Hospital. In our current state, we provide care to surgical overflow; generally meant for a 24-hour observation or short stay admission. This is a fast-paced unit with 24 beds and 6 beds being acuity adaptable and able to provide progressive level of care. We also have multiple rooms that have been fitted for negative pressure.

This unit is a great way for new graduates to gain medical-surgical experience.

Scheduled to open in the fall of 2021, IU Health Regional Academic Health Center is a new complex to replace the existing Indiana University Bloomington Hospital. We will have best-in-class technology that has proven to contribute to better outcomes and outstanding patient care. With this move, our Short Stay/Medical Observation unit will be located and incorporated with the ED where you will be cross trained in emergency. We will have a 24 bed observation only unit, and will have a Hospitalist and NP designated to this unit where they will institute a rapid ADT: admission, discharge and transfer of patient into and out of this unit.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity and inclusion at IU Health. IU Health does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, national origin, gender identity and/or expression, marital status or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.
