We are looking for a PRN Exercise Specialist to join our team at Bloomington Hospital!

This individual provides direct patient care to patients coming in for cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation; including assessment, obtaining vital signs, lifestyle modification education, monitoring heart rhythms, and reporting/managing irregular heart rhythms. Trains and demonstrates proper exercise techniques and equipment use. Instructs patients in safe exercise routines. Utilizes skills to determine the biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self care, cultural, ethnic and spiritual and educational needs of the client/family/significant other to develop, implement and revise the plan of care. Computer skills are important in this role. This individual will need to navigate electronic medical records and check patient vital signs.

It is important for this team member to be a good communicator and have strong critical thinking skills. In addition to, a willingness to work as a team and the ability to develop relationships with a variety of patients from different backgrounds and cultures.

Qualifications for the Exercise Specialist Role

  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support through the AHA within 1 year of hire. May require ECG course review.
  • May require ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification.
  • Bachelors Degree in Exercise Physiology or related field required.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred.

Additional Information about this Role

  • This is a supplemental (PRN) position. Weekend rotation in general is about once every 2-3 months. There are occasional holidays worked.
  • Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist by the ACSM preferred.
