Our Emergency Department at IU Health Bloomington offers a 24-hour provision of patient care services to populations ranging from infant to elderly. With a RN to patient ratio of 1:4, it is focused on addressing the most urgent and relevant clinical needs of patients during their visit. Our IU Health Bloomington ED is a verified level III Trauma Center and averages 50,000 patients' visits annually. It is also a regional referral center for stroke, cardiac and sexual assault patient care. The ED Clinician works with a strong team of providers including IU Health Southern Indiana Physicians Emergency Medicine, physician assistants as well as nurse practitioners, clinical pharmacists, SANE and mental health specialists. The ER nurses must obtain ACLS, PALS and TNCC certifications with additional opportunities to participate in specialty training in areas such as Emergency Nurse Pediatrics, and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Training.
